Oldies but Goodies

I'm trying to type with a wrist brace on. I have symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, and the orthopedist suggested this brace. It makes it really hard to type. Might have to just take it off for a little while.
Ahh, that's better for now. I'll pay for it later. That's okay.
It's Monday. I don't have the Monday Blues. Yay! I'm enjoying the somewhat quiet (Scout keeps me busy) of the house with the kids back in school after having been out of school for President's Day and then again the same week on Friday. So, we had two 3-day weekends which was great. I feel some guilty conscious creeping in...it's coming from talking about enjoying being alone at home.
Those are old tapes. I'm not buying in to them today. There's nothing wrong with enjoying quiet, fewer demands and some alone time. In fact, it's important to me to take advantage of this time.
Speaking of kids being at school, Don got up this morning at 3:30am for a 5:20am flight to Anaheim, CA. It's a quick trip. It used to be really hard on me when Don was on trips, especially when the children were little and my partner was MIA!
I love having Don home the most. I wait eagerly for him to come home each time he is gone...even if just for work. There's so much love in my heart for him, and I enjoy his company so much.
With him being in CA, albeit a short, one-night trip, I wish I were with him...not a practical reality, but a wish just the same. We went to Anaheim a couple of years ago and stayed in a friend's vacation cottage in a sweet little town that I'm now forgetting the name of, but it will come back to me.
That trip was a lot of fun. We had some yummy seafood dinners, went to LA for a TV taping, ate lunch with a dear friend, walked to the harbor and to the beach...milled around, relaxed (even though it was a work trip...water just relaxes me so much). Ahhh...I can still feel the sunshine on my face as I strolled alone one day, up and down the sidewalks around and through a new outdoor shopping center, Ooo-ing and ahh-ing over the beauty of the Pacific.
I love trips and travel, and I love reflecting back on memories of places I've visited...(Newport Beach?...yep, that's it. I cheated. Thanks Google!) What did we do without Google?! Maybe my memory was better without it or maybe my memory just suffers with age.

At any rate, travel speaks to my heart...the ocean (my favorite), the mountains, the desert, the Tennessee Hills...there is so much beauty around me and so much to be seen in every part of the world.
For me, I trip doesn't always have to be in an exciting area or vacay destination. Once Don and I went to...yep, forgot it (long-something...{that's what she said..haha!}). It'll come back. We were in a little town in Texas, not a western town or anything charming...just a Hampton Inn & Suites off the interstate.
We were there for a charitable event. So, we did have some fun times sharing meals, wine and music. What I most remember about that trip though, is that there was a Target across the parking lot from the hotel. Don and I walked there and wandered the aisles...no biggie but fun! Oh, Longview, TX. That's where we were.
Next up... Ritz Reynolds, Food & Wine and Panhandle trip for Eliza's senior year! Yay! more water!!
Water is definitely my happy place which, thinking about a tie-in, brings me back around to quiet. Here in the white noise, fridge humming, heat kicking on and off, Scout chewing his bone, songbird singing...all are a great setup for fast forwarding old tapes with negative messages, and instead replaying some oldies but goodies!
