“What shall I do today? What shall I do?” —Pipi Longstocking

i shall fly on wings of eagles and watch the world below
i shall dance in the mist of ocean tide and wait for the dolphin to utter my name
i shall hold a white dove with an olive branch and feel the peace of gentility
i shall sift fine, white sand through each of my fingers and feel its echo of eternity
i shall run barefoot across a salty shore talking to God because it’s here that I know him best
i shall toast the sunset with champagne as it sinks below the ocean horizon and beg God for an encore — all the while knowing, I will have to wait — because no close of day is ever the same
i shall twirl across a ballroom floor as though I have danced all of my life and know how to waltz and cha-cha with rhythm
i shall stroll along the river’s edge casting pebbles, skipping rocks and sending canoe shaped leaves down the bubbling current
i shall ride in a hot air balloon and drift over mountain tops experiencing their grandeur from an unexpected, lofty height
i shall buy a sailboat and sail the seven seas, around the world and back again to see and believe
i shall climb the forest laden hillside until I reach the top to witness the earthen beauty below
i shall gather my family all in one place, perhaps on the seashore because it is my favorite
i shall shower my beloveds with oceans of love and mountainous tales of my freedom adventures
i shall impart to each one the the importance of chances, embolden them with confidence to take that next step and run with abandon into the adventure of life
