You’ve Been Drafted

Writer: Laura Lyn DonahueLaura Lyn Donahue

The NFL Draft is in Nashville for the first time ever.

Currently, there are 100,000 people on Broadway and the side streets from First Baptist Church down to the river. It’s pretty amazing.

Broadcasters are commenting that theyve never seen a Draft crowd like this in the history of the NFL.

Growing up in Nashville, I don’t think I ever thought that my town would become the “it” town.

On vacation, when asked where I was from, as soon as I said Nashville, it was pretty much a guarantee that someone would ask if we wore overalls and chewed straw in our teeth. This question got so old...the replies, nerve wracking ... “Oh, Nashville. Yeah. I’ve heard of it. Is that in Tennessee? Isn’t there a lot of Country Western music there?”

My humble city is now host to hundreds of thousands of visitors.

The streets don't look the same anymore. Sometimes I don’t know where I am. There’s been so much change.

Change is to be expected. We encounter it every day in many forms...some more significant than others.

Tilts

The best part of change is when there’s transformation at a significant, positive level.

Recognizing, being aware... each contribute to the success of the new.

Ready or not, you’ve been drafted

as does the reception of and conditions for transformation

Am I ready?

Am I willing?

Am I able?

If Nashville can do it, so can I!
